September 9: Seattle - Elder Law: The Intersection of Family Law and Bankruptcy

As estate tax exemptions continue to increase, the threat facing estates of most retirees is not estate taxes – it is uncovered long-term care and medical costs, which threaten to bankrupt many estates. Medicare and health insurance do not cover such long-term care costs, placing estates at significant risk of having to spend down their estates before qualifying for benefits under the government program. Understanding these rules can help individuals plan and protect these assets from the Long Term Care costs.
This presentation will cover how people need to plan differently today in order to: (i) protect their assets; (ii) plan for a better housing solution; and (iii) not become a burden on their family and loved ones. You will learn how coordination of healthcare, housing, financial and legal solutions can secure better and efficient retirement for all of us.
